Build something to do with food.... -- eating, making, creating, etc...
Make sure everyone gets their packets Help anyone who needs help
Introduce your name and what you built
Help everyone transition to the next step – maybe sit beside any student who might be a distraction to the group
Discussion/transition to Snack Attack
Give out food cards – the students will try to find their partner with the matching food pictures Hand out one bag of food pictures to each PAIR
Sorting foods into different categories
If any of the students need help, ask them questions to let them find the answers
Pairs sort food into their own categories
Watch to see who needs help deciding this
Each student sorts food into “like” and “not so much”
Hand out bag of food pictures to everyone
Graph all the “likes”
Help collect the “likes” and put them on the flip chart – we’re going to create a bar chart
Move to sunroom for building: Build something to do with one of the top 3 foods – how it’s made or eaten or packaged
New pairs – again, hand out photo cards so they find the matching pair
Break Snacks WeDo More building Outside
Help with these – the Moms need to do some talking about what next week looks like and some field trips so have one of you be with the builders or the WeDO stuff, someone outside if necessary
A quick summary of today's meeting:
The top few snacks voted on by the kids were:
Cake, Ice cream, Chocolate Bars, Cup cakes (each 8 out of 8)
Graham crackers (7? out of 8)
I'll have to look to see where the first "healthy" snack was ranked! They all had some healthy choices, just not much agreement on which ones they were willing to eat! The bottom 1 was PBJ's with only 2 votes.
So... we're going to do 3 field trips over the next few weeks:
